FOUNDER & DIRECTOR
Elsie Kagan is founder and Executive Director of Interlude Artist Residency. Her frustration with the limited residency opportunities available to artists with caregiving responsibilities led her to establish Interlude in 2019. She aspires to develop a more inclusive and expanding network of support within the arts community . Kagan is a painter, arts educator, and parent.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Carl Robichaud is co-founder and board member of Interlude Artist Residency. Robichaud has two decades of experience in public policy and nonprofit leadership, most recently at Carnegie Corporation of New York, where he led the foundation’s work on nuclear arms control and disarmament. His writing on public policy, foreign affairs, and philanthropy has appeared in many publications. Two of his lifelong passions--for the arts and for helping nonprofit organizations achieve their vision--converge in Interlude. Elsie and Carl are parents to Jasper, Lex, and Willa.
RESIDENCY MANAGER
Alice Fall is an artist from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with a B.A. in Photography from Bard College. She is excited to join Interlude as Residency Manager, where she will work to increase access to the arts and create welcoming experiences for those on-site.
PROGRAM MANAGER
Nicole Hayes is dedicated to amplifying artist voices through expanding career opportunities and networks. Nicole has been Curator at Art Omi in Ghent, NY since 2014: producing exhibitions and events that engage diverse audiences and generate community investment. Before moving Upstate, Nicole lived in Brooklyn and managed the studio of abstract painter Sean Scully. Nicole enjoys daily walks in local conservation areas with her dog Mochi, and her two kids (when she can convince them to come along). She maintains an active drawing and studio pottery practice.
BOARD MEMBER
Ann values creativity, equity, learning, community, and well-being. Ann is currently an advisor to local after school programs, works in philanthropy through The Lewis Prize for Music, and helps run her family's start up business, Into the Future. For over a decade, Ann worked with young people, nonprofit and government agency partners, artists, and community stakeholders to create the entire suite of Social Impact Programs at Carnegie Hall. She also launched national youth leadership programs as Director of Education with the NPR and PBS phenomenon From the Top. Ann has taught in public schools across the country and toured internationally as a violist. Ann is a proud alum of the University of Wisconsin and Indiana University, and lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and two boys.
Danielle Mysliwiec is an artist and Associate Professor of Art at American University.
She holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MFA from Hunter College. Recent shows include a solo exhibition at C O U N T Y gallery, and group shows at McKenzie Fine Art and Asya Geisberg Gallery. Her paintings have been featured and reviewed in publications including Maake Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, Art F City, The Washington Post, and others. Recent awards include a fully funded residency to the Surf Point Foundation, the Pollack Krasner Fellowship at The Vermont Studio Center and a grant from the DC Arts and Humanities Commission.
